The day I tried Mountain bilking

A few weeks ago myself and boyfriend went for a mountain bike beginners session at the Manchester velodrome.

Having been used to being on the track or my road bike, this meant I was very nervous about doing something which would involve cycling over hills.

We got kitted out with our mountain bikes which were very heavy to what I was used too. And headed over across the street to the mountain bike trail.

The trail itself was very different to what I expected, firstly it was open to the public. This is great you would think but when you are paying for a session and having to wait for none payers to get round the track it gets very annoying.  Secondly the track had corners and steep slopes and rockery parts which possibly niavery I was not expecting.

The instructors showed us how to navigate the corners and how you had to bend your knees as you jump over the slopes. I was scared I was going to break my leg and was even thinking how I was going to tell my boss on Monday I had broken a bone! But all was good.

I wouldn't do it again but I did enjoy doing something different. Additionally whilst I was there a bike car boot was held. I got myself some gloves and a pair of lazer sunglasses, which I am chuffed to bits about!

I am off to Birmingham in Saturday for a bike show so will report back.
